Dhanaulti is located at an altitude of approximately 2,286 meters (7,500 feet) above sea level in the Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, around 30 kilometers from Mussoorie. Perched along the scenic Mussoorie–Chamba road, this tranquil hill station is surrounded by dense forests of deodar, oak, pine, and rhododendron, creating a refreshing natural environment rich in biodiversity. One of the most significant spiritual landmarks near Dhanaulti is the Surkanda Devi Temple, dedicated to Goddess Sati. Situated at an altitude of around 2,757 meters, the temple is a revered pilgrimage site and offers sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding valleys, forests, and snow-covered Himalayan peaks. The trek to the temple passes through scenic forest paths, making the journey as rewarding as the destination itself. The temple holds special importance during Ganga Dussehra, when thousands of devotees visit from across Uttarakhand and neighboring states, blending spirituality with natural beauty. Dhanaulti enjoys a cool and pleasant climate throughout most of the year, making it suitable for year-round tourism.
